Blood cancer is also known as Leukemia that affects the white blood cells – when the white cell grown to be abnormal.
White blood cells are made in bone marrow involved in body’s immune system. It protects you from infections. The abnormal or unhealthy white blood cell will caused the body weak and less able to fight for infections. It also prevents the bone marrow from making enough red blood cells that carry oxygen around the body.
There are also many types of blood cancers. The blood cancer symptoms are vary and it depends on the type of the cancer and how it develops.

Blood cancer or Leukemia can be diagnosed from a blood test. Suspected leukemia patient with the blood cancer symptoms found on the above are referred to a specialist doctor to do a few test for confirmation and necessary treatments. The most common tests are X-ray to check on general health and taking bone marrow sample for examination for abnormal white blood cells. Sometimes doctor will also advice further test like CT scans, MRI or ultrasound.
There are 5 major approaches of blood cancer treatment are Chemotherapy, Interferon therapy, Radiation therapy, Stem cell transplantation and surgery. Interferon therapy is to slow down the reproduction of leukemia cell. At the same time it promotes the immune system’s anti-leukemia activity. Stem cell transplantation allowed treatment with high doses of chemotherapy.
