Kidney Cancer Symptoms
A report shows that there is about 200,000 new Kidney cancer cases found in the world each year. It develops most often in the people over the age of 40.
Like other cancer, you need to monitor the risk and the Kidney Cancer Symptoms to reduce the risk of getting the disease and plan an appropriate schedule for regular checkup.
The common risk factors including: smoking, high blood pressure, long-term dialysis, occupation (involved in chemical industry) and gender etc.
The most common Kidney cancer symptom is Blood in urine. It is normally caused by kidney infection or kidney stones.
Other kidney cancer symptoms found in many cases like pain in the lower back, swelling in the kidney area, unintended and rapid weight loss, sweating, fatigue and anemia etc.
However, sometimes even if you found these symptoms doesn’t mean you have cancer. A cyst or infection can also cause such symptoms. Therefore it is advisable to seek doctor advice immediately if you detect such symptoms.
Once diagnose or suspect kidney cancer, doctor will carry out a few tests before any treatment suggested. Physical and urine test, blood test, CT scan and ultrasound test and biopsy are the most common tests.
After identify the stages of cancer, doctor will carry out surgery to remove part or all kidney. Sometimes, doctor will carry out radiation therapy before surgery to shrink the tumor as much as possible. It can also carry out after the surgery to prevent the recurrence of the cancer. There are 2 types of radiation – External beam and internal beam.
Sometimes, there will be some side effects for radiation. It depends on the part of body receiving the radiation and also the dose of the radiation. The very common side effects are hair loss, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, burning skin, skin pain etc.
So, if the cancer diagnosed at the early stages, chances to get cure is up to 90%. Once it spread outside the kidney, it is more difficult to treat and take longer and more complicated way to cure.
