Stomach Cancer Symptoms
Stomach Cancer also known as Gastric cancer. In the early stage, you will see these stomach cancer symptoms including nausea, indigestion, stomach discomfort, bloated feeling, loss appetite etc.
When the stomach cancer developed into advanced stage, you will see these symptoms such as blood in stool, unexplainable weight loss, vomiting, ascites etc.
If any stomach cancer has been diagnosed, a few test need to be done to find out the stages for example:
- B-hCG (beta-human chorionic gonadotropin), CEA (carcinoembryonic antigen) & CA-125 assays
- X-Ray – Chest
- Endoscopic ultrasound and
- CT scan
Treatment need to carried out immediately once identify the stages of stomach cancer. The most common treatment for all stages of stomach cancer is surgery. For instance subtotal gastrectomy which is removal part of the stomach that contain cancer. And total gastrectomy is removal of the entire stomach.
Second type of stomach cancer treatment is chemotherapy – use drugs to stop the growth of cancer cells. It can either kill the cells or stop the cells from dividing.
Radiation therapy is also one kind of treatment - use high-energy x-rays or other types of radiation to kill cancer cells. There is 2 type of radiation – External & internal
Another type of treatment is call Chemoradiation. This is a combination of chemotherapy and radiation therapy to increase the effects of both. It normally taken place after surgery.
Doctor may not able to explain why or how a person gets stomach cancer. However, research shows that things around us and what we do in lives may increase the chance of developing cancer.
So, in order to prevent getting Stomach cancer, besides knowing the stomach cancer symptoms, we need to know and understand the risk factor – anything that will increase a person’s chance of developing a disease.
It is also important to note that avoiding risk factors does not guarantee that you will not get cancer. Also, most people with a particular risk factor for cancer do not actually get the disease. You can always consult your doctor about methods of preventing stomach cancer. Balance diet will also helps in preventing getting stomach cancer. A report shows that excessive salt intake has been identified as a possible risk factor for stomach cancer. Take more vegetables and fresh fruits may be decreased the risk of stomach.
